Fire crews scrambled to 30ft gutter fire

EMERGENCY crews were scrambled after a blaze 30ft up on a Stevenage block of flats.

A small section of guttering was alight but it had burnt out before two fire crews arrived at Townsend Mews today (Tuesday) after receiving a call at 11.23am.

Watch commander, Justin Jones, said: “There’s no specific sign of any cause, it could be the sun - it could be anything.

“It was a very small fire in the guttering and burnt itself out, we had to make investigations to sure there was no further fire spread.”

Both crews that attended were from Stevenage and a 13.5m ladder and thermal imaging glasses were used to investigate the incident.
