FIREFIGHTERS made a splash on Saturday when they raised money for their own charity.

They turned their hoses on to clean cars at fire stations in Biggleswade, Potton, Sandy and Shefford to raise money for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund (FSNBF).

Andy Peckham, the FSNBF secretary for the Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service said: "The commitment of our firefighters and staff to fundraising is incredible and raises vital funds for a variety of projects including the eastern based therapy and convalescence centre to support members of the fire and rescue community.

"The car wash gave us an added opportunity to meet people from our communities to promote community fire service initiatives.
