A fire has broken out in the deli counter at Waitrose in Hitchin – with two fire engines on the scene at the store in Bedford Road.
The Comet spoke to an eyewitness at the scene who said the fire started around 4.50pm after a dishwasher caught fire – but the cause has yet to be confirmed by the fire service.
Customers and staff are being evacuated and there are not believed to be any casualties.
