THE final weekend of the Letchworth Festival is approaching and there are still plenty of events to enjoy.
tODAY (Saturday), there will be another lively event in the town centre - Celebrating Letchworth Life - featuring exhibitions by local societies, accompanied by a Day of Dance with demonstrations of dances from England, Scotland and around the world with a chance to have a go.
Meanwhile St Pauls’ Amateur Dramatic Society will be performing Calendar Girls (Thursday-Saturday, 7.45pm, £8.50) and there will be a five-a-side football Futsal Festival (£5 per team, phone 07813 179797).
tomorrow (Sunday) will culminate in Proms in the Park in the revamped Howard Park, where music and dance will be provided by Letchworth GC’s young musicians from schools, local choirs and music and dance groups. This year the line-up is supplemented by a number of professional performers.
Catering will be provided by L’Artista Italian restaurant and there will be a number of side stalls.
For lovers of traditional sports, a back swording competition will take place.
Roger Harrison, of the Letchworth Festival steering committee, said: “We are coming to the end of another successful Letchworth Festival.
Hundreds of people have taken part and thousands have come to visit. For our closing weekend I am sure it will be no different.”
