Police in Herts have welcomed a mobile phone app which will allow anyone to get involved in the fight against crime.

The Facewatch ID app allows users to scroll through photographs and identify people police want to speak to, whether as potential suspects or as witnesses to crime.

The firm behind the app has given it to the Herts force free of charge, and intelligence officers will regularly post new images. Users will be able to respond to any picture through an anonymous report to the police.

Chief constable Andy Bliss said: “We are keen to use technology to tackle criminals and the community can now help us to do that. I would urge people to download the app and help us keep Herts one of the safest places to live in the country.”

To download the app to your smart phone or tablet, just search your app store for Facewatch ID.
