AN EASTER family fun day for children with developmental delay was a huge success.

Children's charity Brainwave held the event at St Christopher School in Letchworth GC on Sunday and more than 50 people attended.

Children enjoyed a swimming session in the school's pool, followed by an entertainer performing magic tricks including bendy balloons, a bubble machine and a life-size Easter penguin.

The youngsters also had their faces painted and their hair glittered.

Brainwave has over 20 years experience providing therapy for children with developmental delay due to a brain injury, genetic condition, chromosome abnormality, birth trauma or accident.

Speaking about funding the fun day, the event organiser, Ceri Collins, said: "The generosity of the people in Letchworth was really touching. They did not hesitate for one moment when approached and I was delighted.

"It made my job so much easier and helped reserve Brainwave funding for the children's treatment."

Headteacher of St Christopher School, Richard Palmer, is already providing free use of the school's pool each week for Brainwave members and gave use of the school's facilities, including refreshments, free of charge for the event.
