LETCHWORTH GC has achieved Fairtrade status.
The decision by The Fairtrade Federation was welcomed by John Barry, (pictured) chairman of the town's independent Fairtrade Steering Group that also contains members of Letchworth Garden City Council (LGCC), local businessmen and a number of young people.
The group had been working on the push to give the town Fairtrade status since early last year and now all their work has come to fruition.
"This is recognition of all the effort by the town council and the steering group and to have Letchworth GC as a Fairtrade town is a tremendous boost to the town nationally and something everyone in the town should be proud of," said Mr Barry, himself a member of LGCC.
