FAIRTRADE heroes were celebrated at an awards event at Stevenage Borough Council this week.
As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, the council ran a set of challenge awards to find the retailers, caterers, individuals and organisations who are Fairtrade champions.
The overall winners were John Henry Newman School.
Councillor Sharon Taylor, leader of the council and chairman of the town's Fairtrade steering group, said of the winners: "They all have a very strong personal enthusiasm and commitment for Fairtrade."
The students were given a £500 cheque for their nominated charity, the Kiddies Support Scheme (KISS).
