The father of global superstar Lewis Hamilton played his part in supporting Hitchin Town’s Youth Day on Saturday – and to show excited fans his new football technology.
Anthony Hamilton, dad to the reigning Formula One Champion, visited Top Field to give his backing to their annual community-based event which attracted an above-average crowd of 514.
The team – which attracted youngsters and their parents from local schools, football clubs and sports clubs – played out a 1-1 draw with Merthyr Town. But Anthony’s football training technology called Kicktrix proved to be a big winner with kids. Anthony said: “It was an honour to be invited as a guest. KickTrix is all about developing football skills in youngsters, and so it was fantastic to see so many turn out and have a go.”
Club stalwart Roy Izzard added: “We’re always receptive to encouraging young and old to Top Field. “It was good to see an extra couple of hundred people on the gate. It’s so important to be able to attract new supporters.
“Even if just a few children think they enjoyed themselves and would like to come back then we’ve done our job. Having Anthony exhibit was also good fun. A lot of children had a great time trying it. The players also had a go and were very impressed.”
