The boundary wall of Codicote’s historic parish church has been badly damaged in an incident that police believe was caused by a vehicle.

The wall at St Giles Church in Bury Lane was damaged overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, August 30 and 31.

The church is a Grade II-listed building and was dedicated in the 12th century.

Det Con Kathryn Marshall said: “It is believed that the extensive damage to the wall was caused by a vehicle.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or saw anything suspicious in the area, to please get in touch.”
