Mark Cooper met with Stevenage chairman Phil Wallace this week to discuss the vacant manager’s position.
The Comet revealed on Saturday that the 46-year-old was in the stands for Boro’s 1-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers, a result that leaves the club just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Cooper, who has been out of work since leaving League One side Swindon Town in October, met with Wallace yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss the position, and could come in to take over until at least the end of the season.
Darren Sarll has been in caretaker charge of the club since Teddy Sheringham was sacked by Stevenage at the start of February.
