An ex-partner who sent a Stevenage woman abusive messages and posted indecent images of her on Facebook has been convicted under the 'revenge porn' law.

Kevin Ancell – formerly of Stevenage and now of Beccles in Suffolk – posted private sexual images of the woman on Facebook in September during a five-day period of what prosecutors characterised as stalking.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to maliciously disclosing a private sexual image and stalking when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates on Tuesday.

The bench, chaired by Carolyn Marsh, imposed a year-long restraining order forbidding Ancell to contact his victim.

He was also made subject to a year-long community order during which he must complete 40 hours of unpaid work, and must pay £85 costs and £85 surcharge.
