A POPULAR former Hitchin Town FC secretary killed himself by drinking antifreeze, an inquest revealed this week.
Alan Sexton, 56, a life-long fan of the club who was secretary for the Canaries during the club's giant killing 1990s FA Cup runs, committed suicide at his Hitchin home in Nine Springs Way on November 28. He was found with a glass of antifreeze by his brother the inquest heard on Wednesday.
Known as Big Al by all at the club, it is thought he was struggling financially. He had been out of work for nine months.
