Patients registered with GP practices in North Herts, Stevenage and Welwyn Hatfield are now able to book evening and weekend doctor appointments.
The East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group collected the views of more than 16,000 people from across the area on the proposed provision, and have since been working with GPs and health professionals to develop the service.
Prag Moodley, who is a GP and also chairman of the CCG, which plans and pays for health services in our region, said: “This service will come as great news to our patients. Those who struggle to access NHS services during weekdays can now do so at evenings and weekends.
“We are committed to ensuring services meet the changing needs and lifestyles of our patients and help people get help from the right NHS service.”
