Guest speakers at the event at Shuttleworth College on November 16 is mountaineer Rhys Jones, entrepreneur Richard Harpham and Great Britain athletes Liz and Martin Yelling who will be speaking of their achievements, the challenges they have faced and how they have successfully accomplished their own dreams.

Mr Jones reached the top of Everest on May 17 this year, completing his dream to become the youngest person to conquer the highest peak on each of the seven continents, known as the Seven Summits Challenge.

After his success Rhys' dad Alan explained what it had taken to achieve this: "It's focus and determination and having a dream and pursuing it to the end".

The seven peaks in the challenge are Denali in North America, Elbrus in Europe, Carstensz Pyramid in Australasia, Mt Vinson on Antarctica, Aconcagua in South America, Kilimanjaro in Africa and Everest in Asia.

Rhys will be explaining how he accomplished this challenge which he completed on his 20th birthday.

Richard Harpham will be speaking about his challenges and experiences of setting up his new company majorsporty. With 10 years experience in corporate life in facilities management and environmental management working for a FTSE 150 plc, Richard left to embark on a new challenge. He has a keen interest and great experience in sport and it was through this that he then decided to launch www.majorsporty.com , a sports and leisure community.

The online company currently has over 7,500 sporting products and 85 sports brands which cover a wide range of sports and leisure activities. They have also launched an interactive sports community with articles, interviews, photos and events designed to help get people more active. Richard will be sharing his experiences of this venture with the audience.

Bedford and Great Britain athletes Liz and Martin Yelling will be speaking on their success in the world of athletics, coaching and their new business venture Active Futures.

Liz is an internationally successful marathon runner and a Bronze medallist in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Husband Martin has also been a top class duathlete, British champion and has also competed at ironman distance in triathlon.

Both are qualified teachers. Liz is about to launch her book entitled Women's Guide to Running which should help and inspire others to get involved.

As well as this dynamic and inspirational set of speakers the day will also require the students to complete a creative business task. It will give them an insight into the world of business and provide them with some challenges and food for thought to follow their dreams.
