AN ELDERLY woman has been burgled in Hitchin.
Police are calling for witnesses after the crime took place on Tuesday, June 11 between 3.15pm and 3.45pm. The offender(s) approached the home of the woman in the Cambridge Road area and forced entry through the front door. They then made off with a substantial amount of money and jewellery.
Detective Constable Laura Varney said: “The offence occurred around school finishing time and I am sure there will have been a number of people around who could have seen something suspicious. If you were in the area and have any information please call.
“I am also keen to hear any information about anyone coming into a large sum of money in suspicious circumstances since the date of the incident.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Varney via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference G1/13/1240. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, an independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
