Michael Jackson, Wham! and Culture Club were all on the set list as an 80s disco raised more than £1,000 for a hospice near Biggleswade.

The disco in Bedford raised a tidy sum for the 15-bed Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger, with glow-sticks, leg warmers and the like on show en masse during the nostalgic night of fun last Saturday.

The disco was organised by Donna Rutter from St John’s, who said it was great to have fun while raising money at the same time.

She said: “It was a great night for a great cause with people really getting into the 80s spirit by taking part in games and showing their best dance moves. The night was so popular another 80s disco is already being planned for next summer and we’d love to raise even more for the hospice.”
