A flashmob surprised town centre shoppers on Saturday when they started dancing in the street.

Around 20 dance students from North Herts College suddenly broke into a routine to blasting music at 11am in Stevenage Town Square, as shoppers looked on in amazement.

Hazel Lodge, director of marketing at NHC said the show was inspired by the social media driven phenomenon of sudden mass events in public places. She added it was part of a wider effort to publicise the college, as well as teaching students about using dance for commercial purposes.

“This is our first roadshow which will be running through the summer to promote new and existing courses that are available. It’s part of a social media campaign for the college.”

More college run flashmobs are promised for other town centres in the district in the coming weeks.
