A school has submitted plans for a £2.9m development project.

The John Henry Newman School in Hitchin Road, Stevenage, has submitted an application to build a new sports and performing arts block.

The school has applied to the Department of Education for the money which, though not yet approved, would need to be spent within a year of being granted by the acadmies funding the scheme.

The plans would see the demolition of an existing block of changing rooms to make way for the new building, consisting of two new drama studios, a PE teaching classroom, music rehearsal rooms, a recital room and small practice rooms.
