Shefford Lower School has been evacuated today and police called to the scene following reports of a “security concern”.
Officers from Bedfordshire Police were alerted at 11.25am to what they have only described as a “security concern”, with pupils evacuated from the School Lane site as a precaution.
In a statement from nearby Robert Bloomfield Academy which has been seen by the Comet, the school in Bloomfield Drive said: “Just to clarify the current situation following the Parentmail sent out by our colleagues at Shefford Lower School, due to a perceived threat at Shefford Lower we are currently accommodating all Shefford Lower pupils and staff at Robert Bloomfield Academy.
“We would like to assure you that there is NO threat to the RBA site, but we are liasing with the police who are in attendance at Shefford Lower. Any further information that we receive will be passed to you as soon as we have it.
“Please be assured that the safety of the children is our primary concern.”
