A junior school has celebrated 60 years of educating a town’s youngsters.

Highover School in Hitchin, which opened its gates in 1950, marked the milestone last week with a day of performances, displays and artworks charting the decades since the school opened.

Former pupils, teachers and staff were also welcomed back to the school at an evening reunion.

Headteacher Lisa Hayes said it was a fantastic day of memories and celebration with around 800 people attending.
