A Hitchin school governor has come top of the class at a prestigious education awards.
Ian McBain, head of governors at Our Lady Catholic Primary School in Hitchin won the Governor of the Year award at the East of England Teaching Awards yesterday (Thursday). He was given a Plato, the teaching industry’s symbol of excellence.
The school also won a distinction in the Outstanding School Team of the Year category at the ceremony in Bishops Stortford.
The school was in competition with educational establishments in Hertfordshire, Northants, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
