A final decision on the future of Sandye Place Academy is set to be made following a month-long “listening period” starting today.
The school’s governors and the director of children’s services at Central Bedfordshire Council confirmed in a joint statement today that the Department for Education – which has already decided in principle to close the academy – will gather views up until August 3.
The statement reads: “Following the in-principle decision from the Department for Education to close Sandye Place Academy, we have today written to the parents and carers of our pupils to update them on this situation.
“We are united in our commitment to support everyone as much as we can. Should the DfE decide to proceed with closure, it would not happen before September 2019 and all pupils will have access to the best possible education at alternative local schools.”
