A fun run is taking place tomorrow (Sunday) to help raise funds for a Bedfordshire school.

The Etonbury Academy in Arlesey is hosting the 5k event with proceeds going to various clubs at the school to fund equipment and activities.

The event, organised through the parent-led Etonbury Academy Community Association, starts at the school in Stotfold Road before heading out to countryside between Arlesey and Stotfold.

There will be an array of prizes for those taking part, with the school hoping a few hundred people of all ages will join in.

The Stotfold Fun Run and Health Walk, now in its second year, has also been organised to promote health and fitness, offering a prize for the first Slimming World member to complete the course.

Headteacher Al Mistrano said: “It all started with the staff inspiring our students by completing various marathons. Both students and staff now meet three to four times a week to run together and it’s made a real difference to the health and fitness of the children involved.

“We expect about 20-25% of the school to turn out but it’s an opportunity to come together as a whole community.”

The 5k route is completely off-road, covering a variety of terrain, such as gravel paths, farmland tracks and cycle paths so sensible, comfy footwear is advised.

Entry to the race, which starts at 10.30am, is £8 for adults and £5 for children, plus a £1 registration fee.
