A Knebworth care home ran a poetry competition for Year 3 children, with pupils flexing their writing skills to pen poems on the theme of family.
Staff and residents at Care UK's Knebworth Care Home, in London Road, invited pupils from Knebworth Primary School to submit their poems, which were then displayed in the care home for residents to read and vote for their favourite.
After much deliberation, residents crowned Ellie's poem 'Mum's Best Noodles' the worthy winner.
Home manager Vera Moreira-Henocq said: "Connecting with children can give older people an increased sense of purpose, as well as providing an opportunity to reminisce about their younger years.
“Everyone has loved reading each of the entries - it was tough to pick just one winner! The poems are in pride of place on our display wall, and we can’t wait to show the pupils as soon as they are able to visit us in person again.”
