AT JOHN Henry Newman RC School in Stevenage, 119 students sat A-level exams. There was a 97 per cent pass rate overall with 53 per cent of students achieving A and B grades.
Judy Dunn, assistant head of the sixth form, said: "Our A-level results are significantly up from last year. Students have done exceptionally well and many have got As and two students are going to Oxbridge.
"The results reflect the hard work of the students and teachers.
"AS levels are similar to last year but some students need that extra year of maturity.
