Pupils at Hitchin Girls' School were celebrating this morning with well above average GCSE results.
Out of 167 girls, 88 per cent achieved five A*-C grades up on 83 per cent last year, with 40 per cent of pupils achieving an A or A*.
In English and maths, 83 per cent were awarded an A*-C grade compared to 74 per cent last year.
Headteacher Frances Manning said: "We're absolutely delighted with the results. They are fantastic. Our students have really done us proud again this year and we have worked extremely hard to achieve these results.
