Pupils and staff at Henlow’s Derwent Lower School are celebrating after an inspector gave them an overall ‘good’ rating.

The report, following an inspection by Ofsted’s Susan Aykin on February 6, confirmed that the school continues to be good and that “the school’s drive for improvement has continued unabated”.

In particular the report described conduct in class and around school as “exemplary”, with parents quoted as commenting on the “amazing school” and the “excited and engaged children”.

The inspector also praised governance and leadership at the school, noting the strong safeguarding arrangements.

The report commends the new pre-school at Derwent, which was opened by North East Beds MP Alistair Burt and Flight Lieutenant Gavin Nicholson last September.
