The Highbury Road school said a significant number of students achieved the top grades, including the highest 8 & 9 grades in English language and literature, and mathematics.

A total of eight students achieved all A* and 8-9 grades, with a further 13 achieving A* and 8-9 grades in all subjects.

Mrs Manning said: “Our results are exceptional this year for students at all levels of achievement.

“There have been overwhelmingly happy faces this morning as students learn that they have achieved the grades needed for their further study choices.

“With the GCSE examinations being more rigorous this year I am really proud of the way in which both the students and the staff have responded and produced such wonderful outcomes.

“We wish our girls all the best in the next phase of their education.”
