Students recorded the best GCSE results in a Stevenage school’s history today.
As a year group, 36 per cent of grades were awarded at A* or A, with 83 per cent of pupils gaining 5A* to C including English and maths at The John Henry Newman School.
This represents a 21 per cent increase in this key government benchmark measure over the last three years.
Assistant headteacher Joanna Thornton said: “We are particularly pleased with the GCSE results of our disadvantaged pupils, who have significantly outperformed non-disadvantaged pupils nationally.”
These are the best results that the school has achieved in its 28 year history.
