Sixth-form students at Shefford’s Samuel Whitbread Academy received a motivational visit from one of football’s most successful businessmen last week.

Former Arsenal and Football Association vice-chairman David Dein spoke to 200 A-level students at the school, giving them an insight to business management.

The 74-year-old – who played a key role in the formation of the Premier League and turning Arsenal into one of the country’s most successful clubs – also spoke about his career at the top of English football while giving a guide into setting goals and working towards them.

The students also had a chance to quiz Dein on all aspects of his life and career, with questions ranging from departing Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to business management.

PE teacher Phil Johnson said: “Samuel Whitbread Academy would like to thank David Dein for donating his own time to spend with our students.”
