BMX world champion visits Letchworth school

A FORMER BMX half-pipe world champion has been showing off his skills to students.

Mike Mullen, who was world champion in 1998, visited Fearnhill School in Letchworth GC on Wednesday, as part of the Aspiring Minds programme organised by the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.

Mr Mullen took 150 Year 9 students through a series of interactive activities covering attitudes and skills for success, for both now and in the future.

“The programme is for young people, helping them to develop the ‘can do’ attitude, motivation and personal skills they will need to succeed in the modern world,” said Mr Mullen.

Pupil Karelle Romans said: “Mike Mullen’s presentation to us was awesome. He explained to us how important it is to persevere with things even when they get tough.”
