At Barnwell School in Stevenage, 40 students took A-levels and almost a quarter of them will now go on to study physical education at university.
Headteacher Richard Westergreen-Thorne said: "Our results are very good and up on last year and it is due to the hard work of the students and teachers. A-levels are very much an individual progress rather than the class."
Students did particularly well in maths, ICT and physical education and nine students are going on to study PE at Brighton and Bedford Universities.
Mr Westergreen-Thorne added: "Students who came through from the expanded school when we took over Collenswood also achieved some great AS-level results.
