A HEADTEACHER believes the success of her school's GCSE exam results is due a new culture of it being "cool" to learn.
Fifty-eight per cent of students at Barclay School in Stevenage achieved five or more A*-C grades and 97 per cent achieved five or more A*-G grades.
Seventeen students achieved five or more As and A*s and two students got 10 As and A*s.
Headteacher Janet Beacon said: "I knew the results were going to be good but we are particularly delighted with the numbers of As and A*s.
"I think it's due to a new culture if it being 'cool' to learn. Pupils want to try and do their best and we're very proud of their achievements and pleased for them.
