Hundreds of artworks filled a church at the weekend inspired by the theme ‘Together’.

Over 500 pieces were hung in Walsworth Baptist Church in Hitchin by pupils from six junior schools in the town as part of a collaborative public art exhibition.

Children from Mary Exton, William Ransom, St Andrews, Purwell, Highbury and Whitehill schools painted, sculpted and drew their interpretations of the theme, creating a huge splash of colour in the church.

Minister Andrew Henton Pusey, who organised the exhibition, said: “The theme emerged out of the schools agenda about cohesion – we thought they might like to partner us. It’s about belonging, community, friendship, trust and teamwork. It’s been a real success. People who have been in expressed absolute enjoyment of it.”
