AN A-LEVEL pass rate of 100% at A*-E has been recorded by The Thomas Alleyne School in Stevenage.

The school also saw 75% of students achieve all grades at A*-C and 25% at A*-A.

“We have some extremely happy students celebrating record results this year,” said headteacher Mark Lewis.

“Our students have achieved 100% success at A2 - this means that over 90% of them are going to their university of choice.

“We are pleased with the continuing upward trend these results show. We are now looking forward to launching the innovative new post-16 renaissance partnership with North Hertfordshire College and the Da Vinci Studio Schools next month. With the huge number of talented and hard-working students and staff across the partnership we will be able to offer outstanding A-Level provision for our community.”

The school’s most notable successes include Shireen Basra, who collected three A grades in biology, chemistry and business studies and a B grade in maths. She will be reading chemistry at University College London.

Joshua Burge achieved three As and two Bs in his AS levels. This included a grade A in French AS Level, which he studied in his spare time with only one hour’s tuition per week.

Frederica Melbourne, a Year 11 student, achieved an A grade in A-level mathematics two years early.

Matthew Whitby achieved a double distinction in ICT enabling him to take up his place at Portsmouth University to study for a degree in computer games technology.

Alex Hood and Laura Feely both achieved double distinction starred in sports studies. Alex will be studying for a degree in sports therapy and Laura will be taking up an apprenticeship with the Stevenage Sporting Futures team.
