A SCHOOL project has given students food for thought.
Pupils at Hitchin Boys’ School have spent the year growing vegetables in their specially created kitchen garden.
The garden used to be overgrown and neglected until it was brought back into use.
The Year 11 students made the most of their produce by holding an end of term barbecue, where they cooked the vegetables they had grown.
Peter Hodges, who has been teaching the boys for the past two years, said: “I am delighted that we have had the opportunity to create a working garden in the grounds of Hitchin Boys’ School, and proud of the students’ achievements.
“They have all worked hard to achieve the City & Guilds qualification, and several are now planning careers in horticulture, which they might not have considered before.”
