A costume designer who has worked on Harry Potter films will be revealing to students the secret of her success.
Jany Temime is giving a masterclass for schoolchildren at Broadway Cinema in Letchworth GC on Wednesday.
As well as the Harry Potter series, the designer has also made costumes for films as diverse as James Bond’s Skyfall and American-Spanish fantasy Wrath of the Titans.
Students from The Da Vinci School of Creative Enterprise in Broadway, Letchworth GC, will be attending the masterclass as part of their studies.
Principal Donna Lodge said: “We are delighted that Da Vinci students have been given the opportunity to unearth the secret of success from such a highly acclaimed costume designer. We have many Harry Potter and Bond fans as well as several budding filmmakers.”
The cinema is also hosting a series of film screenings – expected to attract more than 2,000 schoolchildren from across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire – as part of the inaugral UK-wide National Youth Film Festival.
The festival, which began on October 21 and runs until next Friday, November 8, is a celebration of film and cinema aimed at those aged five to 19.
Broadway Cinema, run by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, is showing a wide range of films from The Sword in the Stone to The Great Gatsby during the festival.
Alastair Stewart, head of charitable projects and partnerships at the Heritage Foundation, said: “It’s a great opportunity to show wonderful films, old and new, to get pupils discussing them, and to inspire the next generation of filmmakers.”
