The head of Sandy Upper School has saluted her sixth-formers as a “brilliant year group” after they achieved a 99-per-cent pass rate in their A-level results today.
Sandy Upper School sixth-formers acheived 75 per cent of their results at A* to C grade, and 44 per cent at A* to B.
The average grade for students taking BTEC courses was distinction or distinction star, the highest grade possible, which 100 per cent achieved.
Most students already know their university offers have been secured, and have been delighted with their personal achievements.
Top performers included Rosie Barrows – who received a remarkable five A* grades and two more As, scoring 598 out of 600 in her A-level maths papers, to set a new school record.
She is now off to Oxford to read maths.
Also saluted by principal Karen Hayward were Lap Yin Chen, Molly Hilditch, Ciana Thompson, Nancy Root, Rebecca Dickinson, Travis Walmsley, Thomas Grimley, Chloe Barton and Rosaley Puddephatt.
Miss Hayward said: “The grades reflect the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.
“I am extremely proud and pleased by the achievements of all students, and I wish them well in the next stage of their journey.
“I would also like to thank the staff for their incredible commitment to the students’ progress and welfare throughout their time at Sandy Upper School.
“They have been a brilliant year group and I know they will go on to be extremely successful in the next stage of their careers.”
