A school which had to close during winter due a broken boiler is having its entire heating system replaced after securing £650,000 in government funding.
Camps Hill Primary School in Stevenage was forced to close when the Beast from the East hit in February and the school’s boiler failed, causing the temperature to drop too low for pupils to remain on site.
A 22-week project to replace the whole heating system has begun after a successful Condition Improvement Fund bid secured £650,000 from the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
Headteacher Emma Flawn said: “Ensuring our buildings and heating are fit for purpose is paramount to delivering high quality teaching and learning.
“We so were disappointed to have to close last winter due to the bolier failure and are looking forward to learning in our lovely warm school in future years to come.”
