Hitchin Girls School has had its best ever GCSE results.

Ninety per cent of students achieved five A* to C grades and 81 per cent achieved five A* to C grades including English and Maths.

Headteacher Frances Manning said she was even happier than after last week’s A level results.

“The girls have surpassed all expectations. It’s testament to the hard work of the staff working with the students,” she said.
