THE great granddaughter of Letchworth GC’s founder visited the town last week and was presented with a book based on its history.
Joy Howard, whose great grandfather Ebenezer Howard was behind the Garden City concept, attended two poetry events organised by the Local History Group, and was presented Mervyn Miller’s The First Garden City by John Lewis, chief executive of the Letchworth GC Heritage Foundation.
Speaking after the two events, held at David’s Bookshop and Mrs Howard Memorial Hall, Mertsi Fisher of the Local History Group said: “It was a truly uplifting and thought-provoking evening and we were glad to hear that Joy is now planning on a repeat visit to Letchworth GC.”
