BEN Affleck stars as bank robber Doug MacRay in the film adaptation of Chuck Hogan’s novel Prince of Thieves.
After throwing away a career as a professional hockey player, MacRay turns to a life of armed bank robbery with his gang, but when a witness threatens to turn him in he must persuade her to maintain her silence. He quickly finds himself attracted to her, and the idea of a life of going straight. However, things are not simple for MacRay, and his gang won’t cut him loose until he has landed two more big jobs for them.
Affleck, who also directs, gives an understated performance as the tormented thug trying to turn his back on his old life, and Rebecca Hall is perfect as woman to make him change his ways.
