A 36-year-old Dutch man has appeared in court today charged with conspiracy to smuggle drugs, after a £12 million haul of heroin was discovered in a lorry in Letchworth in November of 2013.
Johannes Woltering – of Teisterbantlaan in Holland – is standing trial at St Albans Crown Court in relation to an incident on November 13 in Works Road when 40 kilos of the Class A drug were recovered by police officers after the driver became suspicious about the load he was carrying.
The trial continues.
