A police operation carried out in Arlesey and Stotfold on Saturday saw officers dealing with a variety of drugs offences.

As part of Operation Salcoats, officers issued two street cautions for drugs offences, one for drugs offences and for carrying a bladed article and another man was arrested and later charged for drink driving.

The team also visited pubs in both areas, swabbing various surfaces to check for traces of illegal substances, and issued advice to the establishments on preventative measures.

Sgt Ben Dimmock, from the force’s Crime Reduction Team, said: “The sixth Operation Salcoats was another very successful day, and the feedback we received from people in Arlesey and Stotfold showed they really valued our presence.

“The day provided an important opportunity for us to better understand the issues that matter to the residents in that area, so that we can look to see what further appropriate action we can take.

“All of the special constables and volunteers provided valuable support on the day, and their continued professionalism, effort and support is vital to the success of the operation.

“We will continue to work closely with our volunteers and partner agencies to protect people, fight crime and keep Bedfordshire safe.”

The Operation sees volunteer work alongside some of the force’s special constables, cadets, and Crime Reduction Team. Once a month, the group heads to various locations across the county that have been selected based on crime figures over the past six months, providing a visible presence and enforcing speed limits, issuing crime prevention advice, and talking to residents about issues in their area.
