Two local charities benefited from recent fund-raising events organised by members of Letchworth Howard Rotary Club and their partners. At their recent meeting, the outgoing President Alan Fraser presented a cheque for £700 to the Hertfordshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, in Campus Five. A cheque for £550 also went to Stevenage based charity KISS, which operates in Uganda helping underprivileged children. The cash was raised at a Quiz evening, an annual event organised by the Rotarians partners. The club also organised a Darts Marathon recently when the prize of six bottles of wine were awarded to the team with the highest score - Lorraine Marlowe's team and the St Hugh's Hopefuls were rewarded for collecting the most sponsorship money. During the evening, Alan handed over his chain of office to the incoming President, David Glanville, who stressed the need for a recruitment campaign in the coming year.
