Residents have been left in a state of confusion over two unusual signposts.

People have approached Hitchin town centre manager Keith Hoskins about two adjacent signs in the village of Lilley, near Hitchin, which read ‘Pughey’s Pram’.

“I have been asked about the sign, which doesn’t look official but we have no idea what it is about and put it to readers to come up with ideas.”

A spokesman for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We were made aware of this and it is not an official sign. Our Rights of Way team will investigate and look at removing it in the near future.”
