DEVELOPERS could face a fight in an attempt to demolish a Sandy landmark.
McCann Homes have put in a planning application to demolish Magnolia House in the Market Square.
But conservationists at Mid Beds Council are objecting to the 200-year-old building being bulldozed.
"It makes a positive contribution to the conservation area in Sandy and also has a chapel," said a member of the council's conservation team. Sandy has a lot of heritage and demolishing Magnolia House would erode that. The house can be repaired but at a cost which developers may not want to pay. We would like to save the house."
The planning application to demolish Magnolia House is expected to be heard by the council soon.
