A GENEROUS donation has put the wheels in motion for six-year-old Danielle Marshall.

She now has her first, specially adapted bike and can pedal alongside her family and friends.

Danielle, from Swanstand in Letchworth GC, has cerebral palsy in all four limbs and featured in The Comet last year when her family campaigned for a walker to get her onto her feet.

Having accomplished walking, Danielle has now progressed to cycling thanks to Letchworth Round Table, who donated the money for her bike.

Danielle's mother Donna said: "Danielle's only had the bike a couple of weeks and she can already ride it by herself.

"As soon as she got on it she started pedalling and she's been out and about and even racing her cousins.

"We're trying to build her muscles up so that she can go even further.

"She loves her bike, it's so great that she's got it.

"We had some money left over from the fundraising we did for Danielle's walker so we've also been able to get some speech therapy sessions and we bought her a special beanbag.

"She's done well and her communication is coming along a lot better so I can understand a lot more of what she's saying now.

"The main thing was to be able to understand her more, which was frustrating for her and for me, and to get out with the other kids on her walker and now her bike.

"She's really proud of her bike."

David Rodway, a member of Letchworth Round Table, said: "We heard of Danielle's plight through The Comet and we were motivated to see how her family's fundraising was going.

"We asked if there were any more needs and her aunt Lynzie said about the bike and we bought it for her.

"It's the next stage in her physical development.
