A DAD was so concerned about traffic outside his daughters' school he decided to become a lollipop man.

Mark Bradnick, 35, is a stay-at-home dad and before seeing the job advertised he would walk his daughters Emily, five, and Robin, seven, to Walkern School.

He told The Comet: "It is a very busy road. On one occasion I had stepped in the road and a car came round a sharp bend quickly and I had to step back on the path. It was then I thought 'this is silly' someone needs to do the job."

Walkern School in High Street has been without a school crossing patrol person for two years.

A school spokesman said: "Mr Bradnick was so concerned about the safety of the children in Walkern he applied for the job and has now been fully trained.

"Older children are now able to walk to school on their own in safety and mums with pushchairs also cross without danger. Mr Bradnick deserves a big thank you from everyone at Walkern School.
